近代旅崎華商多屬中小型的海產物、雜貨貿易商，他們的經營資本雖然不大，但卻能以舊商業港市長崎爲中心，發展出廣大的國際貿易市場。本文是利用長崎華商的原始商業文書史料爲素材，舉長崎泰昌、泰益兩間著名的商號爲例，就其開拓國際貿易的歷史背景，和創業初期發展國際貿易網路之情況，及有關長崎貿易活動史中所出現的非連續性部分作一實證性的分析。

Most of the Chinese businesses in Nagasaki during the Meiji period engaged in seafood and grocery businesses of small to medium sizes. Although the operation capital was not big, these businesses could make the old trade port Nagasaki the center of their trade and developed a big international market. In this paper the original documents and historical materials of the Chinese businesses in Nagasaki have been used as the source and two famous business houses in particular, the Taichanghao and Taiyihao, are taken as examples, in order to make an empirical analysis on the historical background of the expansion of their international trade and the condition of the development of the international network in the beginning of their business. Subsequent changes in the trading practices in Nagasaki are also examined in some details.
